An engagement session is more than just pretty pictures — it’s the beginning of your wedding story, a celebration of your connection, and a way to freeze this exciting chapter in time. Connecticut offers a stunning variety of backdrops, from sandy shores and vibrant city streets to quiet forests and cozy small-town corners.
As a Connecticut engagement photographer, I believe your photos should reflect you — your personality, your story, and the way you make each other laugh. Let’s talk about how to make that happen.
An engagement session is your chance to:
Connecticut offers a surprising mix of coastal charm, historic elegance, and natural beauty — perfect for telling your love story. Here are a few ideas:
1. Elizabeth Park, Hartford
Known for its breathtaking rose gardens in the summer, Elizabeth Park is romantic in every season. Think blooming flowers in June or snow-dusted paths in winter.
2. West Hartford Center & Blue Back Square
For couples who love an urban vibe, this spot offers colorful storefronts, charming cafes, and plenty of hidden corners for a mix of candid and styled shots.
3. Silver Sands State Park, Milford
Golden sand, ocean views, and dreamy sunsets — it’s perfect for barefoot walks and playful moments.
4. Devil’s Hopyard State Park, East Haddam
For adventurous couples, the waterfalls and scenic trails add a natural, rustic touch to your engagement gallery.
5. Mystic Downtown & Harbor
A blend of nautical charm, cobblestone streets, and waterfront views — great for couples who want both city and sea in one session.
One of the best parts about Connecticut is how different each season feels — and how it can completely change the mood of your photos:
Dress to Feel Confident
Avoid overly matching outfits — instead, coordinate colors and styles that reflect your personalities.
Plan Around the Light
Golden hour (about 1 hour after sunrise or before sunset) is the most flattering time for outdoor photos.
Incorporate Your Story
Bring your dog, choose the coffee shop where you had your first date, or wear something that has meaning to you both.
Trust the Process
Some of the best moments happen when you’re not posing — just laughing, walking, or talking together.

I approach every engagement session like a chapter of your love story — authentic, emotional, and true to who you are. Whether you’re shy in front of the camera or total naturals, I’ll guide you through prompts and poses that bring out your real connection.
We’ll choose a location (or two!), plan your outfits, and create a session that feels more like a fun date than a photoshoot.
If you’re ready to celebrate your engagement with beautiful, meaningful photos, I’d love to help you plan every detail. Let’s create images you’ll treasure long after the wedding day.

Planning to pop the question in Connecticut? You’re in the right place. From charming seaside towns to sweeping mountain views, Connecticut offers some of the most romantic backdrops for a surprise wedding proposal — and as a photographer who specializes in capturing these once-in-a-lifetime moments, I’m here to help you make it unforgettable.
Whether you want something private and intimate or grand and cinematic, here’s everything you need to know to plan a surprise proposal photoshoot that will leave you both smiling every time you look at the pictures.
A proposal is one of those rare, fleeting moments in life that you can’t fully take in while it’s happening — your heart is racing, emotions are high, and before you know it, it’s over. Hiring a proposal photographer ensures that:
And yes — I can stay hidden, blend into the background, or even pretend to be “just another tourist with a camera” until the big reveal.
1. Mystic Seaport & Olde Mistick Village
Cobblestone paths, charming shops, and the harbor at sunset make this a picture-perfect spot for a romantic, storybook proposal.
2. Gillette Castle State Park
With its whimsical architecture and sweeping views of the Connecticut River, it feels like stepping into a fairytale.
3. Harkness Memorial State Park
Lush gardens, a grand mansion, and the ocean all in one location — perfect for a timeless, elegant vibe.
4. Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven
Sunset by the lighthouse? Classic, coastal, and breathtaking.
5. Wadsworth Falls State Park
A hidden gem for couples who love nature — imagine getting engaged with a waterfall as your backdrop.
Pick the Right Time of Day
Golden hour (just after sunrise or before sunset) gives that dreamy, romantic light that flatters every couple.
Plan a Distraction
Suggest a “casual walk,” “holiday card photos,” or “a day trip” so they’re dressed nicely without suspecting anything.
Coordinate With Your Photographer
Share exact details — where you’ll stand, the signal you’ll give, and how you want the moment to unfold.
Add a Personal Touch
Bring flowers, champagne, or incorporate a special location that means something to you both.
Once you’ve both caught your breath (and maybe wiped a few happy tears), we can capture a quick mini engagement session right on the spot. These photos are perfect for your save-the-dates and to share your news with the world.
If you’re dreaming of that perfect “Yes!” moment and want it captured beautifully, I’d love to help. I offer customized surprise proposal photography packages throughout Connecticut — from discreet coverage to full engagement sessions.

Litchfield County, Connecticut, is a treasure trove of natural beauty and charm, making it an ideal location for engagement photography. From rolling hills to historic villages, this area offers countless picturesque settings to celebrate your love story. As a photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless couples in this stunning region, and I’m excited to share what makes engagement sessions in Litchfield County truly special.
Litchfield County is a perfect blend of rural charm and elegant sophistication. Whether you’re drawn to lush vineyards, serene lakes, or quaint colonial towns, this area has it all. Here are just a few reasons to consider Litchfield County for your engagement session:
Stunning Natural Backdrops: From the majestic Kent Falls to the serene beauty of Lake Waramaug, the county’s landscapes provide a versatile canvas for your photos.
Historic Charm: Locations like the West Cornwall Covered Bridge and Litchfield’s town green add a timeless, romantic feel to your session.
Seasonal Variety: Whether it’s spring blossoms, summer greenery, autumn foliage, or winter’s snowy landscapes, Litchfield County offers year-round beauty.
Every couple has a unique story, and your engagement photos should reflect that. Do you love the outdoors? Consider Topsmead State Forest or White Memorial Conservation Center. Looking for something a little more sophisticated? A local vineyard like Haight-Brown or Hopkins Vineyard can provide a romantic and elegant backdrop.
Outfits play a significant role in setting the tone for your engagement photos. Choose clothing that complements the location and reflects your personal style. Soft, neutral tones work beautifully in natural settings, while bold colors can make a statement in more vibrant environments.
The golden hour—shortly after sunrise or before sunset—provides the most flattering light for photography. If you’re planning your session during peak foliage season in the fall, scheduling an early morning shoot can help avoid crowds while taking advantage of the breathtaking colors.
As your photographer, my goal is to create a relaxed and fun environment where your love can shine. I focus on capturing genuine interactions—the laughter, the stolen glances, and the little moments that make your relationship unique. Whether it’s a playful walk through a meadow or a cozy moment by the firepit, I’ll guide you every step of the way to ensure your photos feel natural and true to who you are.
Engagement photography isn’t just about getting great pictures—it’s an opportunity to celebrate your relationship before the big day. These photos can be used for save-the-dates, wedding websites, or simply as a keepsake to look back on for years to come. It’s also a chance for us to get to know each other, which makes your wedding day photography even more seamless and stress-free.

Surprise proposal photography is a unique and special way to capture the moment when someone pops the question to their significant other. It is a trend that has been gaining popularity in recent years, as more and more couples want to remember the special moment in a way that is intimate and personalized.
The first step in surprise proposal photography is to plan the proposal itself. This means thinking about the location, timing, and overall feel of the proposal. Some couples choose to propose in a romantic location like a beach or a park, while others opt for a more personal location like their home or a place that holds special meaning to them. Timing is also important, as the couple will want to choose a time that is private and intimate, and when the lighting is just right.
Once the proposal is planned, the next step is to find a photographer. This is where surprise proposal photography can get tricky, as the couple will want to find a photographer who is experienced in capturing candid and spontaneous moments. They should be able to work discreetly and not disturb the proposal. It is also important to find a photographer who is willing to work with the couple to create a personalized experience that reflects their personalities and style.
During the proposal itself, the photographer will typically be hidden nearby, capturing the special moment from a distance. They will be able to capture the couple's reactions and emotions, as well as the details of the proposal itself. This is where experience and skill come into play, as the photographer will need to be able to anticipate the couple's movements and be ready to capture the perfect shot at the right moment.
After the proposal, the photographer will edit the photos and create a collection that the couple can treasure for years to come. The final product can be shared with friends and family, and also serve as a reminder of the special moment when the couple decided to spend the rest of their lives together.
Overall, surprise proposal photography is a unique and special way to capture the moment when someone pops the question to their significant other. It is a trend that has been gaining popularity in recent years, as more and more couples want to remember the special moment in a way that is intimate and personalized. With the right planning and a skilled photographer, couples can create a lasting memory of their special moment that they will cherish forever.

Getting together for an engagement photo session with my wedding day couples is always so fun. I love to take this time to get to know each other even more face to face. My couples get a feel for what it is like to be in front of my camera. They are able to get out some of their nervousness when they see that it really is just a fun time loving on each other while I capture it all. I will guide my couples into natural poses and give simples prompts when needed. Much of the time I love to see how they interact with each other naturally before I jump in with poses and prompts.
We work together to pick a session location that is perfect for them. We can head to a park or forest, an open field covering in wild flowers, or head to the beach to walk in the waves. I also love to photography couples in their own home. Cozy on the couch with a cup of tea, or in the yard with their fur babies.
