A Coastal Micro-Wedding at Chamard Vineyards & Clinton Town Beach
/There is a beautiful trend happening on the Connecticut Shoreline: couples are trading massive guest lists for deeply intentional, high-end micro-weddings. As a Connecticut wedding photographer, my absolute favorite days are spent capturing these intimate celebrations—usually under 50 guests. When you reduce the headcount, the pressure melts away. The day becomes entirely about the experience, the scenery, and the connection.
If you are dreaming of a European-inspired celebration right here in New England, look no further than a Chamard Vineyards wedding in Clinton, CT.
I recently photographed a breathtaking micro-wedding that perfectly blended seaside romance with a lush vineyard reception. While I finish editing their full gallery, I couldn't wait to share a quick sneak peek of this magical shoreline day.
Moody Details & Beachside Private Vows
Our day began with quiet getting-ready moments, capturing the bride's beautiful heirloom details. I styled her shoes and rings in a sliver of moody, dramatic window light directly on top of her veil, creating a soft and editorial look before the fast-paced energy of the day began.
Before heading to the winery, the couple wanted to ground themselves by the water. We started the afternoon at Clinton Town Beach for their first look. With the soft New England coastline as their witness, they shared a private moment and exchanged their personal vows right on the sand.
As a fun twist, their dog also got to join the adventure! One of my favorite unscripted moments was capturing a shot through the window of the couple's Jeep as they arrived, with their pup happily sticking his head out to catch the salt air.
Two Paths Converge: The Vineyard Ceremony
After our time on the coast, we drove just a few minutes inland to the stunning grounds of Chamard Vineyard. If you’ve ever wanted to elope to the French countryside but want your closest family members there with you, this is the venue to choose.
Family was at the absolute heart of this day. The processional was incredibly moving: the groom walked down the aisle escorted by both his mom and dad, followed by the bride making her grand entrance down the aisle alongside her mother.
Surrounded by rolling hills and lush rows of wine grapes, they held an intimate outdoor ceremony. Because the guest count was small, I was able to capture the ceremony from multiple angles, showcasing both the expansive beauty of the vines and the teary-eyed reactions of their closest loved ones.
Sunset Spins & A Candlelit Winery Celebration
Following the "I dos," guests mingled on the patio while the newlyweds and I snuck off into the fields. They casually sipped their signature drinks right out in the vines, and I love capturing these moments from a "peeking-in" perspective—using the leaves and grapes to naturally frame their candid interactions. Just as the sun dipped below the Connecticut hills, the groom picked up his bride, spinning her around in the glowing, golden sunset light.
The evening concluded with a farmhouse-style dinner inside Chamard's warm, ambient reception space. A micro-wedding allows you to truly spoil your guests with high-end, farm-to-table culinary details. Between emotional toasts under the warm lights and an intimate first dance, it was the perfect testament to why smaller weddings are so incredibly special. [1]
