Before your Session:

In-Home Sessions:
Close your eyes. Think of a Friday night or a lazy (or not so lazy) Sunday morning in your home. What is everyone up to? Are pancakes being made? Are favorite board games, painting supplies, or crafts spread all over the dinning room table?  What moments, from your life RIGHT you want to capture? Be sure to ask your spouse (and even your kids!) for their ideas. Choosing an activity (or few) that you love to do together helps to tell a your story.

Gather up any items you may need for the session to have on hand.

Is your home is magazine ready? I know mine sure isn't. I have a laundry basket sitting at the top of my stairs just outside my bedroom door that has been there long enough that I have forgotten if it's clean or dirty. I should probably go take care of that.
There are going to be toys on the floor. I bet we will unmake and bed you made that morning. There will be snacks on the counter and cups in the sink.

Take a moment to tidy up. Shove that laundry basket in a closet. Rinse those cups. But please, don't scrub baseboards and wash curtains before I come over.

The focus is documenting your family's love. That is what will be filling my camera frame.

Where will we shoot?

I typically focus on the kid's bedrooms, master bedroom, and living room and even heading out into the yard. But really, anywhere I find some yummy natural lighting. Nowhere is really off limits (unless you say so of course!)

Outdoor Sessions:
Does your family love to fish? Swim in the pool or splash in the ocean and build sand castles? Run through the sprinkler or wash mom and dads car in the driveway? How about a trip to your local ice cream spot?

How can I help my KIDS cooperative during the shoot?

I am pretty sure your idea of cooperative and mine are different. Kids are spontaneous. Kids have "moments" kids have opinions and moods. Mama of 2's ok...I get it. Soak up this time with your family and I will take care of the rest.

What should we wear?

My number one tip (besides being comfy)...don't be matchy-matchy!
Placing  every single person in a white t shirt and jeans looks to planned and "stiff". Mix and match colors, throw in a bit of pattern, pop some colors from one outfit into another with the use of a scarf or necklace, have fun with it! More casual day in the life sessions are fun with patterns on shirts and bright colors.
Most importantly be yourself and be comfortable. This isn't a styled session, dressing like yourselves helps tell your story! Does your son have a favorite dinosaur shirt? He should totally wear it! Does your husband typically wear a button down shirt or a tshirt when lounging around on a Sunday? Pair that with some casual jeans and you're all set! Do you love flowy dresses or are you more of a jeans and blouse type of person? I would suggest avoiding sweat pants or workout gear, but other than that, casual is great!

I have put together a Pinterest board with some images that help give a visual of colors and styles that work well: Outfits

I understand that life sometimes gets in the way of our plans-- kids get sick, unexpected things happen, and you may have to cancel our session. I just ask that you try to give me 24 hours notice if at all possible. We will then find a date to re-schedule.

More info:

Day in the Life sessions are all about capturing your family how they are. We may have 3 activities planned out and I show up and suddenly the kids think those are the more terrible ideas they have ever heard of (even if just yesterday it was the coolest thing since sliced bread) Thank is totally ok! We can switch it up. Mid session there may be an argument among siblings, totally ok! That is life! Someday you won't have those moments in your home and as crazy as it seems, you'll miss it. It's great to have some of those moments captured in photos to look back on too.

Just relax and have fun. Don't focus on being picture perfect. Just focus on soaking up each moment with your family. Love on y our spouse ( it! Your love is part of your story too. And kids NEEDS those images to look back on too) Children love this time soaking up their parents undivided attention. Take the time to slow down and enjoy the big and small moments of your daily life.

After your session:

You will leave our session feeling like you just had a fun afternoon with your family, and a photographer happened to be there to capture timeless moments for you.
I can't count how many times parents have contacted me after their session to tell me their kids keep asking for me to come back. Or thanking me for how easy and stress free their photography session was.

About three weeks after your session, your images will be fully edited for you to view in an online password protected gallery.
Your purchased digital images will be a available for immediate download and include printing rights.
You  have the option of ordering a la carte prints, canvas', and products straight from your gallery, from a professional, high quality printing lab.
If you are opting to print your images at another print lab other than the one connected to your gallery, I strongly suggest you do research into finding one with high quality to ensure you get the most out of your investment.

Using a high quality print lab is an extremely important part of this process.

As mentioned, the print lab connected right to your gallery is a print lab used by professionals all over the globe. Is is the print lab I personally use for all of my own family's printing needs. I have even taken the extra step and submitted my own images to ensure the printing lab is calibrated to be in sync with my photography editing software to get color correct prints in high quality.

Along with your high resolution images you will receive lower resolution images perfectly sized for social media sharing. Those social media sized images will also be in a personalized smartphone app for you to download and have access to your gallery right from your phone! Perfect for social media sharing along with showing off your gallery right from your phone while you are out with friends and family.

I have provided you with the highest quality images possible and cropped and colored them how I believe they will print the best.  Some images (particularly those shot in low light) may have visible digital noise when enlarged too much. This is normal, but may not be aesthetic. In those cases, black and white might be a better option. As always, do not let labs auto-color correct your prints. When printed, your images may not match what you see on your computer screen if your monitor is not professionally calibrated.

Download your purchased digital images immediately. Make copies of your files and save to an external hard-drive and/or in multiple locations. Even store one in a safety deposit box. I can’t guarantee the ability to replace lost or damaged files. Your final images are backed-up by me for a period of twelve (12) months.

I can not wait to meet everyone!
