Documenting the love during extended family photography sessions is such a blast.
Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins all gathered together on a sunny summer day. Blowing bubbles and playing ring around the rosie.
Extended family sessions are such a wonderful way of documenting generations all together in the same frame. These images become keepsakes to pass down for generations to come.
I like to capture a few more posed images in the beginning while younger children are still warming up to the photography session and tend to stand still with a little more ease. Lollipops are also a great tool for this.
And then we let loose. Blow bubbles, play ring around the rose, tag. I love to capture everyone enjoying their time together during large family sessions without a ton of emphasis on heavy posing. Grouping together for some more posed shots can still be done in a relaxed and candid fashion.

Climbing rocks and making smore's, the perfect warm Fall Family Photography Session
I have photographed this family a few times over the years, from hermit crab hunting at the beach to photography sessions filled with hugs from Great Grandparents. When we were planning their Fall Family Session a thought popped into my head...SMORES! Let's explore the wilderness and end the session by making some smores on the fire. They loved the idea so off we went.
I spent an afternoon before our session scoping out the perfect location. And this spot along the river was perfect. We ended up having a warmer than usual Fall day on our session date, so flannels were swapped out for a bright yellow dress, and little toes found their way into the river to explore and splash.
I couldn't have asked for a better family to explore this new location with.
